Wireless Flash rock & roll Photography by Mike Wylie

Tunes by Perth’s Emperors; Plastic Guns. Buy their EP Sam. It rocks. They Rock. Shot in Perth West Australia and Tokyo on Nikon D4 & D3s, focal length ranging from 16mm 2.8 fisheye, to 14mm to 24mm 2.8, and telephoto via the 70mm to 200mm 2.8. A Minimum of three SB800 flashes running via Pocket Wizard controllers in these images, either clamped, or gaffer taped down here and there; most images have four flashes running, a few have five. There are no images shot between 24mm and about 150mm. Wireless Flash is used to control movement, freezing some elements of the frame, while the rest is blurred. This is the only way to get movement, and sharp detail in image, from the guys at front of stage, to the drummer, rear of frame. Drummers are too often missed. THANKS to all these bands for letting me get in the way, and occasionally blind them…. www.projectphotography.com

Music is Plastic Guns by the unrelentingly brilliant Emperors.

Watch at high resolution to see images at their sharpest.
